145 WHL Players Invited to NHL Training Camps
Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League is proud to announce that 145 WHL players have been invited to attend NHL training camps in September. All of the 145 players attending NHL camps are eligible to return to the WHL for the 2010-11 season.
Of the 145 WHL players set to attend NHL training camps, 95 were selected in the NHL Entry Draft and 50 are free agent invitees. 31 of the players who are attending NHL camps have been signed to NHL entry-level contracts.
All 22 WHL Clubs will send at least one player to an NHL training camp. The Portland Winterhawks boast a whopping 13 players who will attend NHL camps, which is the most of any WHL Club, while the defending WHL Champion Calgary Hitmen will see 10 players head to NHL camps.
Each year, WHL graduates make up a significant percentage of players who play in the NHL. In 2009-10, WHL graduates accounted for over 21 per cent of all players who played at least one game in the NHL.

Cougars Acquire Forward Charles Inglis From Saskatoon
Prince George, BC – Prince George Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson announced Monday the Cougars have acquired 18-year old forward Charles Inglis from the Saskatoon Blades, in exchange for the Cougars second round pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.Inglis played 137 regular season games for the Blades, collecting 30 goals and 26 assists for 56 points. Three WHL Grads Commit with the University of Calgary Dinos
CALGARY – Second-year University of Calgary hockey coach Mark Howell announced his 2010-11 recruiting class Thursday which included three WHL graduates; Brett Bartman, Colton Grant and Kris Lazaruk. After a one-year hiatus from the postseason and with two fewer available Canada West playoff berths, Howell still managed to guide the Dinos to the first round of the Canada West tournament in 2009-10. WHL Pre-Season Round-up - Wednesday
BLADES TOP RAIDERS IN SHOOTOUT – Tim McGauley and Ryan Olsen scored in a shootout to hand the visiting Saskatoon Blades a 3-2 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders on the opening night of 2010 WHL pre-season action on Wednesday.
Tyler Kiziuk and Davis Vandane scored in regulation for the Blades, while Justin Maylan scored both goals for the Raiders.
Adam Todd stopped 30 of 32 shots through regulation and overtime and wasn’t beaten in the shootout to earn the win for the Blades. Eric Williams made 40 saves in regulation for the Raiders, but was beaten twice in the shootout.

Morgan Rielly and Michal Hlinka scored 26 seconds apart early in the third period to lead the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 4-2 win over the visiting Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday night in Moose Jaw, SK.
Matt Grant and Braiden Doucette also counted for the Warriors while Andy Blanke and Brody Luhning replied for the Broncos.
Brandon Stone turned aside 16 of 18 shots he faced to claim the win for the Warriors. Austin Smith made 36 saves in the loss for the Broncos.
