Sports Officials Canada announced on Thursday that Regina's Mick McGeough, a former NHL referee, has won the Ron Foxcroft award for officiating excellence.

McGeough retired in 2008 from professional officiating after a 23-year career in the NHL. He refereed 1,063 regular-season games as well as 63 playoff games at the NHL level.

McGeough was one of four individuals recognized by the SOC. They are to be honoured on Sept. 22 at SOC's annual awards dinner at the Delta Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon.
